A lazy afternoon in Dhobi Ghat, on the river Ganges

Trying to find some peace in the bustling City of joy, there is no better place than the ghats along the Ganges. Dhobi ghat is one of them. Life was becoming quite boring during this phase 2 of lock down. And we were dying everyday to have some plans in weekends. But anyway going out in every weekend is not also out of risk. So mostly our nearby places can do wonder, i guessed. Thinking so tried to give it a go by two-wheeler. And this amazing hidden spot quickly picked our attention. As earlier I’ve posted about my golden days spending time in Ahiritola Ghat, I thought this post might help you too.

Dhobighat evening - post lockdownOne can easily spend one or two hours here, on the bank of river. There are tea stalls; vendors selling Paan, cigarette, Fuchka can also give you a feeling of fulfillment. The scenic view is mostly with river Ganges. The widespread turn can be spotted here – the river is mostly very deep and ample amount of current can be seen here. Personally asking, I like the perfect blend of nature and development. It was a rainy day – we almost spent the whole day inside rooms. In the evening we felt restless & was looking for a refreshment around. Thanks to our two wheeler to land us on Dhobi ghat within half an hour.

Dhobighat evening - post lockdownWhat are the activities to do?

  • Sit on the benches beside the Ganges & enjoy the scenic views. Its one of my favorite way of enjoying any place. Not every place is worth to feel this, where your mind will be calm, composed to rejuvenate.
  • Take a ferry ride over the Ganges & visit the opposite bank – Shrirampur. The 10 minutes journey can heal your soul. Visit Shrirampur & come back.
  • Take a nature walk around the banks. Spend one- two hours over gossip with friends.
  • Show your Photography skills. I have found lots of budding photographers with DSLR. However with the boon of digital India, we have better cameras in our smartphone today.
  • Take a small boat personally from the fishermen. Spend leisure time floating over the river.
  • Remove your boredom with tea, coffee, snacks.

Dhobighat evening - post lockdown

We spent almost 2 hours by gossiping, capturing photos. As the evening was approaching, we decided to wrap up & took our way back to home. An evening in Dhobi ghat was really amazing. We decided to come here again shortly.
