It is India’s first village as the Sun’s rays fall first in this village in country and is located at an altitude of approximately 11,000 feet above sea level. The village is surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, including snow-capped mountains, dense forests, and gushing rivers.

History

Did you know that in the Battle of Walong, many brave Indian soldiers gave up their lives to defeat around 4000 Chinese troops at Namti? It’s true! Even today, the Chinese army has a good number of troops stationed near Kibithu Tatu, Tithang and at Rongto Chu valley west of Tithang (Rima). Their entire presence opposite Kibithu is managed through the Rau transit point.

Kibithoo village is located in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh, which is in the northeastern part of India. The nearest airport is in Dibrugarh, Assam, which is approximately 160 kilometers away. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Kibithoo village.

The nearest railway station is in Tinsukia, Assam, which is approximately 140 kilometers away. From the railway station, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Kibithoo village. The village is also well-connected by road, and you can easily reach there by taking a bus or hiring a taxi from nearby towns and cities.

• Did you know that before the 1962 war, the people of Kibithu used to supply rice and other rations to a cooperative in present-day Zayu town (Rima)? It’s pretty interesting, considering that the town now falls under the Chinese occupation in the Tibet Autonomous Region.
• Did you know that the Lohit river starts in Tibet and then makes its way into India through Kibithoo?
• Did you know that Kibithu is the second Border Personal Meeting (BPM) Point in Arunachal Pradesh, right after Bumla in Tawang? These are the spots where the Indian and Chinese army reps get together to work out any issues and make sure everything is cool between the two countries.
• Did you know that the Kibithu and Kaho area is home to some of the most unique and rare birds and mammals? It’s pretty amazing!
