Our visit to Nefani – offbeat destination in Assam Nagaland border

Few weeks back, we decided to go on an adventure to a place called Nefani. It’s a special spot nestled in the border between Assam and Nagaland. Me, my wife, my brother-in-law, his wife, and our friend Wrichik all geared up for this offbeat weekend destination.

As we set out on our journey, we realized that finding our way to Nefani wouldn’t be easy. The paths leading there were remote and in terrible condition. But we were determined to explore this hidden gem, so we kept on driving, chatting casually along the way.”I wonder what Nefani will be like,” my wife said, her eyes filled with excitement.

“I heard there’s a beautiful river and some old bridges,” my brother-in-law added.

“Yeah, I hope we find a good spot to relax and enjoy nature,” Wrichik chimed in.

After hours of bumpy roads and uncertain turns, we finally reached our destination. As we stepped out of the car, we were greeted by the sight of a serene river, smooth rocks dotting its banks, and an ancient hanging bridge swaying gently in the breeze.

“This place looks amazing!” wife my brother-in-law exclaimed.

“Let’s go sit on those rocks in the middle of the stream,” I suggested, pointing to a cluster of large stones jutting out of the water.

We spent the afternoon sitting on those rocks, feeling the cool water rush past us and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. But as the sun began to set, hunger started to gnaw at us.

“I wish we had brought our own cooking stuff,” my wife said, her stomach growling.

“Yeah, we didn’t expect there to be no food joints around here,” my brother-in-law lamented.

“Don’t worry, we can explore and maybe find something,” Wrichik reassured us.

So, we decided to venture further, crossing the river and exploring some abandoned places on the other side. We stumbled upon old houses, their walls covered in moss, and empty fields reclaiming the land.

“This place must have been bustling once,” wife of my brother-in-law mused, gazing at the ruins.

“Yeah, it’s sad to see it abandoned now,” I agreed, feeling a pang of nostalgia for a time I’d never known.

But as the evening wore on, we realized it was time to head back. Nefani might be a beautiful place, but it was also a controversial area, and we didn’t want to get caught up in any trouble.

“Let’s pack up and make our way home,” I said, gathering our things.

Reluctantly, we said goodbye to Nefani, leaving behind the rushing river, the ancient bridge, and the memories of our offbeat adventure. As we drove away, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the chance to explore such a unique place with my loved ones by my side. And as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the landscape, I knew that Nefani would always hold a special place in our hearts.
