An evening sunset on Jayanti River

It was one of those evenings back in 2024 December end, when the world seems to slow down, and everything around you feels just right. We three best friends decided to spend the evening by the Jayanti River, a place we had thought to visit countless times, but finally we made this time only in our last 16 years of friendship. The magic was it never failed to capture our hearts, as expected in vision and in real as well. The sun was beginning its slow descent, painting the sky with shades of orange and pink, casting a golden glow over the horizon. We dared to visit the Jayanti in dry season. So, there was no water. The riverbed was entirely a barren land.

We sat on the riverbed on some stones, feeling the soft breeze. Few bottles of beer rested between us, cold and refreshing, but it was the idle moments that felt the most special. We didn’t need to rush, and there was no hurry to go anywhere. The only thing we needed was each other and the peaceful atmosphere around us.

As the evening wore on, we let the music fill the air. Some classical evergreen songs, the kind that bring back memories of simpler times, played softly from Arindam’s Bose speaker. The tunes seemed to match the slow pace of the world around us—everything felt like it was moving in slow motion. The sunset, the sound of the river, the music, and the laughter of friends created a perfect blend of nostalgia and joy.

For what felt like an hour, maybe more, time seemed to stand still. It was as if we were trapped in a moment that would never end. The world around us felt pure, untouched, and real. There were no distractions, no pressures, just pure, unfiltered happiness. We talked, laughed, and shared memories while the sky darkened, but we didn’t mind. In that moment, it didn’t matter what time it was or what lay ahead. We were content, and it felt like time had frozen just for us. The evening slowly wrapped itself around us, and we knew we’d never forget how perfect that moment was by the Jayanti River.
