Hello all, hopefully you are all having loads of fun with this winter. In kolkata, winter is almost gone from last 3-4 days, though the Delhi people are actually enjoying sheets of SMOG. I was wondering, as the winter is almost gone, this year I did not take any scope for a freaking freezing challenge like the last year. Well, that is really unfortunate. But I want you people to have at least 4-5 days leave and have a trip to North sikkim, Even in February you would get much cold & ice. So I was just arranging my archive to those people who actually did not have this fun. & seriously to say, Its really some budget friendly travel plan which you will say after the whole trip that “Yeah Its worthy!”

I have been North sikkim for two times, Once is month of June & another in in January. If by any chance you’ve missed my June’s journey, You could read this story of Journey to zero point in June.

- 31st Dec: We announced our journey to North sikkim – the freaking freezing challenge, which gained lots of traffic, enthusiasm & interest among of lots of people & we received so many positive as well as negative feedbacks. Haha! Thanks to them all. & Finally we backpacked our stuffs & set the fire towards North sikkim for the second time. We booked flight, just to save time, reached Bagdogra Airport, from where again hired taxi to siliguri, then another car from siliguri to Gangtok. (You have option to take dar from Bagdogra to Gangtok direct, but you need to negotiate the fare with drivers).
- 1st Jan: After overnight staying at hotel ,We started journey early in the morning from Gangtok towards Lachung, and this is our ist day of trip to north sikkim. On way to Lachung, we surpassed some scenic beauties with breath taking water falls, made us spell bound. After 6-7 hours of journey we reached Lachung. whole day’s journey would surely push you to sleep. Though we visited the village at night before the dinner, then went to bed.
- 2nd Jan: Next morning, Yumthang Valley would be your destination, no matter what age or mood u have, you’ll love this place, This place is recommended to visit during April month, as lots of unknown Himalayan flowers bloom at that period of time. Though Winter experience of Yumthang valley is very different. We got such ice pains that finally we were bound to wrap up our cameras in bag to hide our open fingers. You are about to enter zero point after crossing yumthang valley, We were enough lucky to get snowfall at that time. after this journey on the way back, you will be entering to Lachen, another village in North sikkim from where you are supposed to start your next day’s journey.
- 3rd January: From Lachen, early in the morning you will set go towards Gurudongmar lake via Thangu valley. Now a fortune factor comes. It depends upon weather conditions, Its not a certain that you will definitely reach Gurudongmar Lake, on the way you will probably face bunch of natural situations which you cant avoid, until you are totally prepared. As in our case, our car just stopped within ice completely which made us to stop there & walk on feet, but that experience was no doubt a classy. But that was not the end, we had pretty good times to enjoy there, & prepared some chicken there in natural climate without any preparation.
